The Steering Committee welcomes a small group of the most senior land use planners, lawyers, and other planning practitioners from Ontario to meet and discuss trends and developments in land use planning.
Using candid, seminar-style discussions at this annual meeting, participants from municipalities, private practice and the provincial government examine trends and developments on the most pressing issues facing the industry.
This elite group, comprised of experts in the field, personally nominates all invitees and develops the Agenda, which forms the basis of our discussions.
Called to the Ontario Bar in 1990. Founding partner of the law firm of KAGAN SHASTRI LLP. Practice focuses on municipal law, land use planning law, development charges and expropriations. Represents a wide range of both private sector (developers, landowners, and residents groups) and public sector (local municipalities, regional municipalities, conservation authorities and Children’s’ Aid Societies) clients in a variety of land use planning and municipal law matters. Practices extensively before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Municipal Board) and all levels of courts in Ontario. Several published articles and speaker at continuing legal education seminars. Former member of the Board of Directors of Ontario Power Generation in (April 2014 – April 2017). Former Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation (Jan. 2018 – June 2019).
Claudia Storto is currently the City Solicitor and Director of Human Resources at the City of Markham. She was previously the City Solicitor at the City of Vaughan and Counsel in the municipal, planning and environmental section of a Toronto law firm. In her current role, Claudia sits on the Executive Leadership Team and acts as senior legal advisor to City Council and all City departments, with oversight of Legal Services, Real Property and Human Resources.She has expertise in municipal and planning law and has frequently appeared before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal.
Erin brings nearly 20 years of domestic and international experience in event and relationship management to Cambridge Forums. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, Erin started her career in corporate banking and moved into the not-for-profit industry, including various roles internationally. She then started her own business providing consulting services with various clients, focused on event management, marketing and relationship management. Coming to Cambridge, she is most excited about the opportunity to engage with everyone at forums. Her expertise lies in merging the wants and needs of the client with the abilities and needs of the business, resulting in fun, informative and truly memorable experiences. Outside of the office, she can be found lakeside with her family and dog, a nice Bordeaux decanting inside, and pondering her next travel adventure.
