The Forum is an annual meeting for up to 74 of the top legal advisors, trustees, private bankers and CPAs, who advise HNW & UHNW international families on estates, trusts and tax law, to explore common concerns, exchange ideas and resolve challenges faced on behalf of clients. Participants are within the age cohort of late-40s to early-60s.
Using candid, seminar-style discussion, the group identifies trends and developments in their varied jurisdictions for meaningful dialogue on the most interesting and provocative issues of the day.
This elite group, comprised of experts in the field, personally nominates all invitees and develops the Agenda, which forms the basis of our discussions.
Claudia Caffuzzi is a Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JPMorgan Private Bank. She is the Practice Leader for the International Wealth Advisory Group and the Latin America Wealth Advisory Group. As a Wealth Advisor, she advises individuals regarding estate and trust planning (covering both local and crossborder topics) and related transfer tax and income tax matters. She focuses primarily on clients in Mexico. Prior to joining JPMorgan, Claudia practiced law with the firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, concentrating in U.S. and international trust and estate planning. She served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Oliver Seth on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Claudia received a B.A. from Connecticut College, a J.D. from University of Southern California Law School and an L.L.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Claudia regularly speaks at international trust and estate planning conferences on a variety of Latin American tax planning topics.
Michael is the Head of Fiduciary Services for Standard Bank Offshore Trust Company Jersey Limited and leads a team of highly qualified and experienced trust professionals. He joined Standard Bank from the Accuro Group where he was both a director and shareholder of the business. Whilst at Accuro Michael headed a large team that was responsible for the establishment and ongoing management of large complex dynastic structures for families with a focus on Africa, the Middle East, the UK and North America. Prior to working at Accuro he worked at RBC Wealth Management in their trust businesses in Jersey and Cayman. Whilst at RBC he focussed on African, North American, European and UK connected families.
He has particular experience working with structures holding residential and commercial property, large complex investment portfolios, directly held private equity and family companies.
Michael was educated in South Africa and England. He has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants and is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He has been named as a Top 35 Under 35 on multiple occasions by PAM Insight, he has been named as a Future Leader by City Wealth and a has been recommended as a trustee by the Global Elite published by Legal Week. Michael regularly drafts articles for industry specific publications and speaks English and French.
Paul Hodgson, Deputy Group Head of Trust at Butterfield is primarily responsible for nurturing and enhancing Butterfield Trust’s relationships with both clients and advisors, alongside offering first-class technical advice, particularly in relation to structures for wealth and succession planning. Paul joined Butterfield in 1998 after 10 years of working with KPMG in Australia, London and Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants, Australia and New Zealand, a Trust and Estate Practitioner and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Paul is Chairman of the Guernsey International Business Association (GIBA) and immediate past Chairman of the Guernsey Association of Trustees (GAT) and remains on the Committee. He received the STEP Founders Award in 2016 for his extraordinary service and contribution to STEP Worldwide.
