The Forum is an annual gathering of 48 senior in-house counsel from the largest institutional investors and preeminent lawyers from across the globe, to address emerging risks and challenges in direct investments in major infrastructure projects around the world.
Using candid, peer-driven discussion, this Forum explores trends and developments in foreign infrastructure investments, to discern best practices for successfully completing transactions and address the long term risks facing investors.
This advisory group of leading practitioners drafted the Agenda and personally nominated all invitees to the Forum.
Krista is the co-head of the Infrastructure and Energy practice, as well as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
Krista has deep experience in complex, innovative, first-of-kind transactions and projects. With robust insight into all types of energy projects and infrastructure asset classes, she regularly leads large teams working to advance significant projects and transactions. Krista is also an accomplished lead negotiator and has extensive experience advising multiple stakeholders with respect to their complex projects and transactions.
Selin Bastin is Vice President and Divisional General Counsel at the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments). With over 20 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer, Selin has extensive expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities law. Since joining PSP Investments in 2006, she has played a key role in ensuring continued effectiveness of deal execution on the legal side.
Selin is currently responsible for legal matters in the Private Equity, Infrastructure and Credit Investments asset classes.
Prior to joining PSP Investments, Selin worked at Stikeman Elliott in the Corporate Law department, where she specialized in M&A.
She holds a BCL and an LLB from McGill Law School and a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University.
John D. Franchini is a partner in the Global Corporate/M&A Group of Milbank LLP based in New York. Mr. Franchini also co-heads the firm’s Global Infrastructure Practice.
He has extensive experience representing infrastructure, sovereign wealth, private equity, hedge and pension funds, together with their portfolio companies, in investment, acquisition, recapitalization, disposition and strategic joint venture transactions. Mr. Franchini has significant transactional experience involving core and non-core infrastructure assets, power generation and transmission assets, midstream natural gas pipelines, telecommunications business and other digital infrastructure assets, including regulated businesses.
Mr. Franchini also advises public and private companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other corporate transactions, including stock-for-stock mergers, tender offers, private stock and asset purchases, complex joint ventures, private placements of equity securities and restructurings. He regularly represents clients in competitive auction scenarios, both as sellers and bidders.
Mr. Franchini has completed transactions throughout Asia, Latin America and North America throughout his career.
John is a corporate partner who advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, with a focus on the Energy and Infrastructure sector. He advises on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, co-investments and carve-outs, often with a cross-border element.
John previously worked at OMERS Infrastructure, one of the world’s leading infrastructure investors, as Managing Director and global co-head of legal.
Emma is Senior Forum Director and Financial Services Lead at Cambridge Executive Connections (CEC), a subsidiary of Cambridge Forums, Inc. Naturally curious and a lifelong learner, Emma has developed and managed a variety of meetings in both the profit and non-profit sectors. Before joining Cambridge, Emma was Assistant Vice President, Global Marketing at State Street in Canada, where she spent close to two decades of her career, offering her a great depth of knowledge and understanding of the financial and investment sectors. In Emma’s current role, she leads CEC’s Financial Services portfolio, including programs for institutional investors, banking, private funds, risk, and governance professionals.
